Welcome to our new students
Staff and I want to welcome our new students this fall. Our new students have a lot of potential and we are excited to have them in our classes.
Private lesson changes and expanded beginner classes
We are excited to announce that we will be opening the upstairs for classes for our beginner belt classes to allow us to meet needs of our new students and future students while still allowing us to social distance in classes.
Students will have the option to do private lessons in-person or by zoom starting next week. To allow the in-person private lesson option we will have to modify when we offer private lessons starting next week.
Leadership Team Meeting This Saturday from 11:40 pm to12:30 pm
We will have the first October leadership team meeting this Saturday from 11:40 am to 12:30 pm. Here is the agenda:
October sign up links
I will have the October sign up links for zoom group, in-person group, and private lessons done this weekend. I will e-mail the links early Sunday.
Sparring resumes this week
Since youth football, youth soccer and youth basketball have some contact and the state has allowed these activities to resume, we will be resumed sparring at Premier Karate this week. It was fun seeing students enjoy sparring again. Here are the details:
-
TKD Yellow belts and above that have their own sparring gear
-
We plan to keep sparring as optional during the COVID period for the most part. Poom and Black Belt tests will require sparring.
-
Students will wipe their gear off with disinfectant wipes or sprayed with disinfectant between matches
-
Students will need to wear masks underneath their face shields
If you have any questions please e-mail them to me at PremierKarateMN@gmail.com.
Random Acts of Kindness Journals
Students are required to do and record random acts of kindness in their journals. White belts need to do 50 random acts before they are allowed to belt test. For all color belts 100 random acts of kindness is required. You can pick up a new journal at the front desk.
Words of the Week – Moderation
In October we will be discussing Moderation in class. Here is discussion point number 1.
“Chocolate is great!, So is apple pie, but if you eat too much, it'll make you sick. Moderation is the key to enjoyment”
Moderation is the key to staying injury free in sports and enjoying life!
Little Ninjas
We worked on Orange (Memory) and white (Discipline stripes) this week in class. This is the 2nd month of the cycle so students are getting their second chance to earn these stripes.
Hapkido
I will be e-mailing an awareness training assignment this weekend to our Black Belts and Hapkido students. Please be prepared to talk about the assignment next week in class.
Have a great day, Mr. O'Neill
