New student drop off and pick up effective this Wednesday
The following changes apply starting Wednesday to maintain our compliance with the latest COVID restrictions. There is now a light fixture in the window next to the front door. Before entering the school check the color of the light.
-
GREEN LIGHT – Students ONLY may enter the school
-
Students will still use hand sanitizer when they enter
-
Students will still sit in the chair with the number matching the order they entered the school
-
New – students will put their jackets on their chair and their boots or shoes next to their chair.
-
YELLOW LIGHT – Parents may enter the school
-
RED LIGHT – NO ONE may enter the school
-
New – Students will now be leaving through the front door for all classes. Due to capacity and social distancing limits, the current class has to leave the school before the next class can enter.
-
Students will still use hand sanitizer when they leave the school
-
This also allows us to disinfect the chairs before the next class enters
What motivated Premier Karate to make these changes?
With the revised gym capacity limits, if we were to have students and parents for the class that was ending and the students and parents for the class that was starting crossing paths in the viewing area we would be over the COVID capacity limit for several of the class overlaps. Also, by having students exit through the front door students will not have to carry their wet boots or shoes across the training floor which could have led to slip and fall hazards.
Leadership Team Meeting This Thursday (11/19)
The next Leadership Team meeting will be this Thursday (11/19) from 7:30 to 8:10 pm. We will continue our teaching practice and curriculum review. We will also focus on step 1 (self-awareness) of the 5 step process to develop emotional intelligence which will make members better teachers and motivators.
Black Belt Street Self-Defense this Wednesday and Thursday during 7:30 pm class
Black belts can wear regular clothes to class during these classes and we will work on situational training. Bring your winter gloves or mittens for winter scenario training.
Sparring Classes and Sparring Team
We have a sparring class Saturdays from 10:40 am to 11:10 am that is open to all TKD yellow belts and above (you don't have to be on the sparring team) that have their own sparring gear.
Sparring Team is for those that want to compete at tournaments in sparring and members get to wear the gray Team DC uniform.
If you have any questions please e-mail them to me at PremierKarateMN@gmail.com.
Words of the Week – Black Belt Mastery thoughts on failure
In November we will be discussing failure in class. Here is discussion point number 3 on Failure and Mistakes.
“Those with an eye toward success respond first by anticipating mistakes. Second, we accept responsibility for them. Life is for learning lessons and mistakes are some of your best teachers.”
Little Ninjas and Tigers
We will work on Yellow (Balance) and Orange (Memory) stripes this week in class.
Hapkido Chevron Test this Friday at 6 pm
We will have the next Hapkido chevron test on this Friday at 6 pm. The chevron test fee is $25.
TKD Stripe Testing will be the week after Thanksgiving
Stripe testing will be Wednesday (12/1), Thursday (12/2) and Saturday (12/4) during regular class times.
TKD Color Belt Test will be December 4th at 6 pm
I will e-mail students that may be eligible based on the attendance and number of stripes they currently have this week.
TKD and Hapkido Poom and Black Belt Test will be December 11th at 6 pm
Have a great day, Mr. O'Neill
