Board breaking week

We will be doing board breaking in classes this week. The key to board breaking is focus and determination. In board breaking you need to focus on the center of the board where it is the easiest to break. You need to tune out all distractions and doubts when you do board breaking.

The same goes for doing well on home work. Turn off distractions such as the TV, Netflix, Youtube, etc. so that you can focus.

Leadership Team Meeting Thursday (11/11)

The next Leadership Team meeting will be this Thursday from 6:55 pm to 7:35 pm. We will focus on instructor and leadership team skills and prep for the Fall leadership team information event.

Fall Leadership Team Information Event – Saturday 11/20 from 12:30 pm to 1 pm

Who can attend? - Any TKD or Hapkido student that is a high yellow belt or above

Why would I want to attend? - Students that may want to be a paid Premier Karate instructor in the future or wants to learn leadership skills that translates to school, sports and work. Leadership team members get to hear first about changes or new things for Premier Karate and get to provide feedback before I move forward with changes.

What is the cost? - Free

Attendees will learn and/or practice the following:

  • What is leadership and what is not

  • How to act like a leadership team member

  • How to spot differences – We do a series of games with prizes where students try to spot differences. In the spring event I think the attendees gained a new appreciation for what it takes to be an instructor and how hard it is at times to spot the differences.

  • We will also have a terminology game with prizes - In the spring event I picked common terms and beginner techniques that we use in class since knowing the terms (lingo) is important for communication in any leadership position.

If I attended the spring event should I attend the fall event? - Yes, attend as many of these events as you can. This is your chance to show us your interest and readiness to be picked for the leadership Team

Saturday Sparring Classes

We have a sparring class Saturdays from 10:45 am to 11:25 am that is open to all TKD yellow belts and above that have their own sparring gear.

If you have any questions please e-mail them to me at PremierKarateMN@gmail.com.

Little Ninjas and Tigers

We will work on Red (Focus) and Green (Control) stripes this week in class.

Black Belt Street Self-Defense Next week

Black belts can wear regular clothes to class during these classes next week on Wednesday and Thursday during 7:40 pm class and we will work on situational training. Bring your winter gloves or mittens for winter scenario training.

Have a great day, Mr. O'Neill
